EHAP Course

Agree completely that it should be taught and discussed. Over here with our esi training, it seems that so much time and effort is spent on the little things that the real and every day hazards seem to just be brushed over.

For example, to become a utility climber we first need to undertake basic climbing techniques and release and rescue, this course takes up to 5 days and some of the people I have seen be given their certificates I would not let climb with a saw in the middle of a paddock. This is the minimum requirement to be allowed to climb on the assets while part of a 3 man crew with 2 lead climbers.
To become a lead climber you must complete 400hrs on site, not climbing hours just onsite before you are accredited as a lead climber.

To me this is crazy, a far safer approach for all I think would be to be subject to a test work climb upon which the assessor could seem you safe to climb around the powerlines
