Ed Hobbs - Passing of a Legend

I was really saddened to hear from Don Blair this morning about the passing of Ed Hobbs.

As most of you know (or should know), we have Ed to thank for bringing us the modern lowering devices and arborist blocks. He brought us the Hobbs Lowering Device, Hobbs Blocks, Bry-Dan harness, etc. His rigging gear goes out with us on every job.

A true Maverick and I am glad to say that I knew him and could call him a friend.

Oh yeah Tom, I have. I was friends with Ed, and he sent me an autographed copy...one of my priced possessions!

Thanks for posting this, Chris. Ed was a good friend and mentor. It was his patience and willingness to guide a wild young teen that opened the door to an incredibly satisfying career.
