Recently bought one of these to see how they do and am a bit dissapointed that they don't have a gunning sight. Has anyone sighted theirs in and if so could you please post a photo of what you did to mark it and explain what measurements or angles you used. Thank you!

Nothing too scientific

Lay your saw on its side with the left side up. Place a square along the flats of the bar. That's you gunning site. Now transfer a parallel line to the case of the saw. I'll bet you'll find two points in the casting to use as the imaginary line

If you want to mark the gunning site wipe off
The case with solvent and paint a contrasting colored stripe. If you have A paint pen it works fine. You could scratch a line or use a Dremel tool to make a mark too

Thanks Tom. Definitely more simple than I would have thought.
You really should get out more @JeffGu lol.
In Boise I have been doing mostly decurrent trees and rigging everything so it hasnt been an issue. I am contracting in N. Idaho for a couple weeks doing a lot of conifer removals in tight quarters and would rather blow out a top instead of rigging them out so I need to be spot on

I wish you could pin that idea in the heads of all the Californians who have been taking over this place. Get them back to the thought of Idaho only being about potatoes. No offense Cali but GTFO!
Definitely always upgrading!

Because your a freak of nature @rico? Have you ever heard it called a gunning sight?
I myself was taught about the sights on a saw, and the bell and nubbin on a choker on my 3rd birthday.
On my 4th B-Day I got a shiny new Salt Creek Hi Jack, and a 7/8" Manilla Wire-Core flipline!!!
A right of passage!

Well the 355t doesn't have one, my t540xp does and 201tc
My apologies for my poor attemp at some humor Kenny. The 335t is a great little saw for limbing, but the lack of sights, and those gawd awful tiny Dawgs make it damned near worthless when you get into some wood. That combined with the lack of power were a deal beaker for me. I love the idea of using a light top handled saw, but I just haven't found one that cuts the mustard when I start chunking down wood.

Isn't that what you use now? What happened to your videos bro?

I find just eyeballing 90 degrees off the top side of the bar will get you pretty close, gotta lean back and use distance as your friend.. like shooting pool. I personally would run a modded 2511 over a 355 because of our baby Pennsylvania trees
