Dynometer

With out up coming Arborcamp I have been delegated the responsibility of sourcing a Dynometer to do demo's of rigging forces.

Cut a long story short I have pretty much exhausted all avenues over here ... some people think I'm inventing this product!

I've heard it mentioned plenty of times in threads here that you guys have them ... where do you get them and can you rent them etc?

We are thinking of showing the forces exerted on speed lines, blocking down and setting up a few different friction devices to see what the differences are.

If we have a section of known weight we can also set up a "how to let it run" demo and participants can have a go to see how good their rope skills are. It'll be a big event.

Last year over 200 attended, have you seen the video? We even had TV exposure.

If anyone can help and steer me in the right direction it would be great. Alternatively if you own one of these perhaps you can come visit our camp and give us a hand with some demos ... it'll be really neat.

All you'd need is a spring scale with a tattle-tale marker to show the highest reading encountered. Something like that shouldn't be all that hard to scare or rig up, I'd think. Okay, Kevin's link finally came in and it kind of looks like that's what they're hawking... I was thinking something electronic with a load cell (and for those prices it should be!).

If doing a search; use the proper term "Dynamometer"

One of my ebay ones arrived without the ears/ shackles. But i have ~$160 in both, so can test inputs and outputs on bent lines, 2 handed pulls on pulley scenarios, pulls from both ends into other pulley systems to inset etc.
