Where do you draw the line between film making, good arboricultural practice, and climbing with real 'bottle'.
Had a youtube conversation with the bloke who made this clip a few months back - and then got another answer today. I'm not going to reply.
'Bottle' = 'gusto,' 'verve,' 'daring,' or words to that effect.

My point is that by spiking a healthy tree you create perforations in the bark that will allow pathogens into the tree. Thus the tree will become unhealthy - and unsafe for you and others.
Spikes should only be used on trees that are being removed.

Ive been climbing like this for years and my work is there for anyone to see as for your comment their is no evidence to give substance to ure claim read shigo n when u actually get a chance to work on the same tree later in its life u will see the tree heals again read ure books n one day u will be able to see what I say really happened .thanks for the comment as ive only been amongst the best subcontractors in the uk for 25 years .the video is about how to get a buzz out of the most dangerous job in the world .see the route n go baby go

Shigo didn't write about climbing - he wrote about trees. I'll have another look at Modern Arboriculture tonight - but I don't expect it to support your contention. Still, if you want to refer me to any particular page or pages that you see as supporting your contention - then I will gladly go to those first. I look forward to learning something; after all, as you quite correctly say, education does make a difference.

+itselthambro its called cpmpartmentalisation which in really simple tearms the trees ability to heal itself .this video was done to show real bottle something only an elite few climbers ever reach .cant wait to c ure upload .
