I remember seeing a post on this before and have seen the youtube video...is the guy that made that video on the buzz? I believe he is...I was wondering if that person could send or post some still pics of the setup and the suggestions to get it working well...or if someone has a link to the older posts thats even better thanks

double, doubled or twin?

Double line means two ropes. Is that what you mean, because two ropes and 'line walker' don't go together

Do you mean one single line, doubled? I think you mean 1;1 twin line ascent.

I've only seen the rope walker system on SRT.

Re: double, doubled or twin?

My setup. Pantin right foot, foot loop to Basic left foot with elestic runner to Rope man on standing end of line.

Re: double, doubled or twin?

Double line, double rope, the two terms are often confused as the same, and sometimes used interchangeably in discussion. Double line is a single rope doubled over a crotch or thru a friction saver, and double rope is two distinct separate ropes or lines.

Re: double, doubled or twin?

In rock climbing the term 'twin ropes' are two seperate, smaller diameter ropes that are used at the same time. The climber is attached to both of them at the same time. This is a very specific rope configuration and design.

Double rope is two ropes also but any rope is used.

Doubled rope is one rope that is bent over a TIP and used to support the climber. This is the traditional arbo technique.

Re: double, doubled or twin?

[/ QUOTE ]I'd like to fully agree. But a rope bent over a TIP is not necessarily traditional arbo; not if you place a dual ascender on it. Now its anything but traditional, but still on a doubled line. How does one differentiate when talking about these two distinctly different techniques on the same rope that goes up and over and back down.

Call them both doubled or double or whatever. Call your car a truck just because it has four wheels. Proper terminology is pretty important. There's only three rope techniques and their kindred variants. Everyone seems to want to lump the two doubled methods together and just call them the same thing, even though they're a world apart.

Re: double, doubled or twin?

personally i like dynamic double rope technique and static double rope technique

doubled vs double

Double does, and always has meant two ropes.

Doubled is where the confusion comes in.

There's an article in the November TCIA on dual ascenders. A dual ascender allows you SRT (just use one side, the other goes empty), doubled static (both sides contain rope, both sides get used) or doubled dynamic (both sides contain rope, one side gets used)

For arbo traditionalists you're always on doubled dynamic (DdRT). This is your steady girlfriend. SRT may be a fleeting thought like that really hot chick who you can't get up the nerve to talk to. Static doubled (DbRT) or twin line is the hot newscaster whose image you can only look at from a TV.

That was about as stupid an analogy as one could come up with.

The point being, if you hang with one system, it really doesn't much matter what the others are called because they're not even part of your reality.

However, if you're using a tool like dual ascenders you can be in and out of all three of the described systems, depending on the particular tree, and whatever mood you happen to be in at the time, or what system would best facilitate the tasks just ahead.

Re: doubled vs double

So I put my Double Line Rope Walker together and tried it out...it works awesome...i really look forward to using it...I will get some pictures up here soon

Re: doubled vs double

dude i use static doubled rope almost every time i enter a tree. marbars, footlocking, gleasy bars, double accender footlocking the tail, double ascender double foot ascender these are all static doubled rope technique (sdrt). i think these techniques on sdrt are like the kinky girl next door (she likes it all) that i caress everyday not the far away news anchor that i can't ever touch
