Dogs with jobs.

It sounds like a few of us take their dog to work. I'm going into my second season with the dog and it's been great for crew moral and not too many problems. Should of been tons of great video if I had a camera. Must be some good stories about this.

When we work waterfront she goes nuts. Swims, rolls, runs, growls and does 10' foot flying leaps to bum bites when we're not looking.

The other day she turned on a goofy neighbor. Didn't bite but we sure didn't see much of him after she tuned him up. Extra treats that night.

She also loses it every time a big tree drops and has to run along it as soon as it's on the ground. Pretty good tree climber for a dog as well. Cute too.

I question whether she needs PPE on the jobsite.
I hate to see dogs with their heads out the window at highway speeds. And I don't know if the jobsite noise can affect their hearing.
I have a painter that takes his dog to work every day.
He's never had a problem.
I am sure she enjoys the work.

A friend of mine used to let me take her Golden Retriever on certain jobs. Bailey was a character and smiled all of the time :)

On one condo job we almost got in trouble. The condos were surrounded by a cheap golf course. The geese would wander all over dropping messes...blechhh...I think squirrels might be cuter. Bailey would spend his time chasing the geese all over. Of course he never go close and the geese would make a heck of a racket. Most of the people were entertained...except one resident. I was told that if I didn't leash Bailey they would call the police and the dog catcher. Whew...lighten up! Bailey was crushed :(

She's in my avatar photo as you can tell she's a really rare Jackalope Hound. As for PPE she's been with us since she was abandonded on the highway and when the big saw's screaming or branches are flying she goes on a tour or gets put on lockdown. Came close to hitting her once.
I attached a picture of her smelling the spring crocus'.

We have two dogs at the shop Klause, a Berenese Mountain dog and, Shadow a mixed breed black dog. They're awesome, we don't take them on jobs though. They are part of the family and do great things for the crews moral. Having dogs around really comes in handy sometimes too.

We have 4 German Shepherds. One used to be on the job with us all the time. She is a long coat. Started taking her at 9 weeks old. The first job she went on was a huge, decayed elm tree. She was climbing inside the decayed log and eating grubs!! lol Now she walks with us in the woods and sniffs out all the decayed trees. Since we moved, she hasn't been out on the job. But, Jeff brings her home hollow, decayed logs. She loves it. Her name is VeeGee...vg for Victorian Gardens. She still goes out on estimates with me. The dogs are great for moral and the crew loves them.

That's a handy skill for your dog. I worked where they had a drug sniffer mixed breed and the meanest biggest attack Rottie, their work was play to them.

I take my dog with me as frequently as space and temperature allow.

He's good for morale. Customers love him. He get's invited into the yard frequently by dog-lovers.

It's the best when a client has a dog, I always take the chance to throw the ball or scratch it behind the ears, even though I catch shyte for it.

When I was traveling around doing tree inventories I brought my dog with on one of our biggest projects. There were about 10 of us on the project, and we were all staying in a hotel. Everyone enjoyed my pooch being there to greet them at the morning meetings, and she enjoyed having so many people there to pet her.

She was a big moral booster for the crew since we were all away from home. A few of my coworkers would take her for walks in the evenings and weekends.

It was worth paying the $50 pet fee at the hotel to have her there, not just to keep me company, but to keep the crew moral up too.
