Does z133 {and/or any other industry regs} specifically require a face shields for ground saw operation?

On storm and at odds with the army safety guy. I even purchased a digital copy of z133 from ISA since I don’t have my hard copy down here but it just directs you to OSHA Z87 and I’m spending my own money here…

Is a face shield required for ground saw operators who are otherwise wearing all PPE including z87+ rated glasses?

The z does not, but eye pro is required. Many facesheild are NOT impact rated so do fit the bill.
Buggs the wire mesh goggles makes two kinds, one that is rated and the other isn’t.

Here are the Z87 approved wire mesh goggles that I wear every day and the best thing about them is that they never fog up!

I wish I could get those with my prescription

I've tried to like wearing mesh in the 'glasses fogging' season, but all it does for me is feel like I'm wearing dark sun glasses. In the already dark, grey, rainy northwest days of fall/winter that just doesn't work for me personally. Then there are the times when you look up, and a raindrop lands on the mesh and shotguns the raindrop into your eye!

(to be fair, a mesh face shield would have saved me from that branch to the face the other day, but eh, just don't like em)

The only requirement for face protection while running a chainsaw in the U.S. is under the logging standard 1910.266. This does not apply to arborists in most cases.

Face protection may be required on an arborist job site if the hazard of flying debris is present. i.e. chipping/stump grinding.
