I completely agree that the size of the company has no bearing on the quality of the work they produce. I am not very concerned about what equipment is used either. I am more concerned that when a contractor is doing the work, they are professional - both in how they look, and how they do the work. No guys without shirts, no guys without proper PPE. Fly by nights - not welcome.
Treecare - I absolutely agree that a good relationship is very important with larger tree companies. I recently had a storm damaged tree that was beyond my experience, it was only my relationship with the company I used that I was able to get them out that same day. And for the record - they were a losing bid the previous year on our trimming project. But - they knew they were not underbid by some hack treecare company so the relationship stayed strong.
