Diam. comparison btwn. Velocity & Yales blaze

thanks tom, i asked in another thread a few weeks back if the fly splice would pull through the art rope guide....will the blaze? and to clarify, i mean pull through just the pulley part before it catches on the retrieval ring

The B splice goes through the pulley easier than the F. With F I never worry about it catching on the retrieval shackle. With B I've added a few wraps of tape to make a ring to catch the shackle...just in case :)

or just attach the retrieval ball to the splice?

perhaps i'll get the blaze and a rope guide then.....i've been holding off on the rope guide cos of the fly splice

I've never used the ball. I know that as soon as I get one it would make it's bid for freedom and get away. The tape wraps are always around and can't escape from my control :)

Don't. The Fly splice is perfect for the RG. The Blaze will work great too. Just have to use the ball that's all.

I like both ropes. I need to play with the Blaze for a little more time before I can really comment on the differences. At first look, I'd say the splice is cleaner, but that doesn't make too much difference to me. I would think that it is better for a splicer (Nick?) since it is an easier splice to make. The Blaze seems like it will last pretty long and doesn't have too much bounce.

The Fly seems to stay more round when loaded. That's probably why it's harder to splice? Both ropes are smaller and lighter, so I think you're gonna win with either.

I have used all of the 11mm ropes I like the blaze the best. The fly, is a little too soft for me, the velocity has too much surface friction for me. I have about a two weeks on the blaze I like it.
