This is probably the best tree climbing competition video i've seen yet. Thought it was worth sharing with others. Its from the Asian-Pacific TCC. Very well done editing from iClimbinc.com

APTCC video

Hope you enjoy as much as i did.

P.S. Great slow motion shot of James setting the new World Record. as well as a whole lot of other great shots.

Very cool,

Right at around 3:00 min, A climber appears to have a spool mounted on the back of his harness to take up the tail of his lanyard.

When I did a short spell tying re-bar on a hydro-electric dam project, we had a cast aluminium spool for our tie-wire, designed to hang on our work belt, but they had no recoil spring, I've often thought of modding one so that it did.

Anyone seen this bit of kit this climber was using? Home built or available?

If it's homebuilt, that is one crafty climber.

That lanyard winder is a great idea. Here is a video I saw of a lanyard adjuster that was fabricated from a vacuum cleaner cord winder. http://youtu.be/djFdE7caLa0

Oh that's just great Treezybreez, now I'm gonna spend my Canada Day long weekend skulking through used vacuum cleaner stores!

No really, thanks. This is a cool idea.
