Dead Spuce limbs

Hey,

I am going to look at a blue spruce on the weekend that has something going on with it. Client sent me some info but no pic.

-25ft tall
-top 2ft dead
-plus 3 dead branches spaced around the tree
-none of the branches are touching each other all at different levels
-branches turned yellow then brown and dropped there needles
-the tree sits alone in a yard with nothing around it but grass for 30+ft

Hoping to go out there with some good info for him as it is a 1.5 hour drive and don't want to do it twice. Just looking for some ideas to research. Maybe cytospra cancker? any other thoughts. I know it sucks without a good pic.

Or, the client could have a lawn service that applied Imprelis herbicide.

Well I finally made it out to see the tree. It was as described by the HO. No signs of bugs. But there is a lot of renos going on around the house. Painting etc. As well a porta-poty 10ft away. The porta-poty has chemicals in it so maybe there is a small leak.

This part of the job is the hardest for me. Feel like an idiot when I can't give a solid answer to a client. It's sure makes for good learning trying to figure it out.

Thanks

It's never easy to do this. You are probably doing all you can, bsed on clues left 'at the scene'.

Unlike people and pets who get tests and analyses, and at the end, autopsies, trees rarely get investigated enough to learn from. Not enough money for this (undertandably but frustratingly).

So we are left with a series of plausible possibilities to explore. These things often never get answered. I have at least three unanswered questions just on today's queries. Never mind the ones I'm still trying to solve.
