I went to do my walk around inspection on the crane the other morning and the nuts were gone off the cable clamps on the tail of the load line. Apparently the the price of scrap metal caused someone to think they needed that 110Lb ball more than I needed it. With the winch drawn tight they weren't getting it off. The dog did start barking like crazy around 1 that morning and I went out but didn't see anything( until the walk around). We just bought some motion lights to set-up to help detter more of this.There has been a lot of steel thefts around here latley,including the manhole covers in the city of Rutland.

Want to add a laugh to the burglar system?

I learned this on a gardening forum where people wanted to keep deer from eating the veggie garden.

Install ratcheting sprinklers and tie the switch into the motion detectors. As soon as the thieves get close they get zapped with water. You could also trigger a recording that tells them to smile because they're being filmed and the police are being notified.

Motion detectors can be aimed so that the little critters won't set them off.

Those things are great. I walked close to one on a job and it scared the crap out of me.

The sprinkler was on the neighbor's side, and it still scared me.

I'm glad that you see how funny it would be too Butch :) I offered the sprinklers as a way to generate a chuckle haha

How would thieves be able to explain soaking wet clothes to the cops if they got pulled over?

Of course, video cam systems are pretty inexpensive these days.
