I have a juvenile Cherry planting that was doing great...til Black knot enveloped it this spring. As far as I know there is no treatment for this that eradicates. Anyone delve into this lately with success or is any attempts a waste of time. A huge nursery I bought this from told me last year they were having an awful time with it. This year they are playing it down and have stock but I bought this from them 2 or 3 years ago and, damn I am real disappointed.

They axed the University Ag. Extension service here. That is what this part of the forum is for son. Maybe find someone that has run this trail already :-)

Take out your frustrations with a hand pruner and clip them out. On big branches, excise them (trace the wounds).

Best to catch it early; prune every 2 weeks--not every 2 years!

Yes this is black knot country, and sanitation is a solution when it is practiced in a timely fashion. This is the most basic tree care practice, isn't it?

If it's neglected, then recovery is more difficult or even impossible when it gets systemic.

non-distal = proximal...done on semihealthy branches too.

Shigo: "Arborists should carry a chisel with rounded corners at all times." But you knew that...
