Correct, that is the usual anti-2 block set-up, and I couldn't see one on his. He was no doubt winching down while extending the boom to keep you stationary relative to the boom tip.
Becket/wedge socket.....yeah thats I was was referring to and couldn't think of....anyway, its hard to tell from the picture if he simply had the cable clamping the dead end of the cable right up again the wedge socket with very little dead end cable showing or what, something looks off. Every other crane I've seen always has a a few inches between the becket and the dead end clamp. It would appear he is thinking the purpose of the clamp is to secure the live end and maybe thinks cinching it up tight to the becket would do that better, and that is incorrect. The becket is supposed to take the load. That coupled with the apparent lack of an anti 2-block is a major heads up, and I'd jump his sh*t about it, politely inquire, I meant to say.
Point being it would appear that he has ALREADY 2 blocked it....and thats why the clamp is so far down the line, up tight against the becket!
