Crop Circles

Not exactly tree related but they are brilliant so I'm gonna rave on about the first one I've seen up close.

Crop circles occur frequently in the Southwest of England, but not so much in the County where I live. Gloucestershire.

This week I've been working further south in Wiltshire, the undisputed home of crop circles globally. Near where we were working there was some activity, cars parked in strange places and helicopters flying over. When we drove home we could see poeple starring into the fields so it was obviously a new crop circle.

To get a high enough view point I walked up from the road about a mile onto the ridge and took these pics.

I walked in to the centre (hippies were smoking a fat one by then)and the intricasies of how all the stems were folded was amazing. Not easy to photograph so I won't bother posting them.

When I got home I checked the net for updated pics and found this that was taken from the helicopter we saw earlier.

I had no idea how comlex this one was. The centre "cubes" have a three dimensional quality to them.

This was either done by aliens or some extremely clever folk with just 6 hours of darkness and a very clear plan of what they were trying to achieve, as there is no way to see this properly from the ground.

However it was created I think its great. It will be gone by the weekend as most of the fields here have already been harvested.

Well, I was born and raised in Wiltshire, when I was around sixteen a group of scientests from many countries, mainly Japan, set up camp on the side of Salisbury plain, Westbury White Horse to be precise, they were only there a few days when a crop circle appeared in a field below them, their instruments picked up nothing unusal, myself and a friend push biked over to have a gander, we could get no where near the field as it was cordened off by the army, the army? why would they be interested?
Anyway, turns out it was a fake as they found a ouija board in the middle. But why was the army there?

Another friend of mine worked for the MOD as a civilian photographer, they flew in a helicopter to assignment, a hour or so later they flew back to base on the same route and found that a vast crop circle had appeared in a field below and in day light.

I myself belive it's the military having a bit of a laugh.

I don't think you can have a "fake". A crop circle is just that, a crop circle, to me its not important how they are created, what is important is that we don't know how they are created. I'd love to think that there are people who go out in the night and make these things, and if they do then the circles they create are not fake, but thats never been proven along with all the other unproven theories.

I like your Military theory, as all the circles are around the salisbury plain area. But still no one has ever been filmed or caught anybody making them.

Lets all be happy that crop circles seem to be constructed of benign farm crops like wheat. Can you imagine what it would be like if the crop circle builders decided that they wanted a bigger challenge and started to make the same style patterns in other, larger, crops...like timber plantations or suburban tract houses?

Timber plantation circle would be sweet, just not on my land. Some company should do it on their own as a harvest methode, would probally get good publicity for the company.
