This is a prime example of a company running a business in a non-regulated industry.

Makes you wonder what's going on with the state of Florida too.

BCMA,

whil I am all for ansi, and the new regs, your comment made me think. I think we should all pay attention to the new "standards" they are passing. If they are too stringent it may make our job difficult. For example I hope that the tree work in the South is represented as equally as it is in the north and the West.

In the north and west they do a lot of trimming, Limb walking, and maintenance work. Whereas in the south of the trees grow faster so we do a lot more removals. Our techniques for removing heavy trees may be different than the ones used out west. (I used to do work in Colorado and it was very different).

All I'm saying is, your comment made me think that the last thing I want is another set of rules that will limit me in certain situations.

I know it would be good for beginners to have a set of rules, but what if there's just a situation that the rules didn't apply to (for safety reasons).

Regulations are good in an industry like roofing where everything stays the same. But in the three dimensional dangerous world of tree removal, each situation is very unique and very different.

Anyway, I know it's off topic for this specific thread but my fingers needed the exercise LOL!
