Cool Artsy Stuff with Tree Products.

very cool! i love his work. Thanks for posting it.

I helped local artist friends @ Thin Air Studio install this massive exhibit in '09... all of the limbs were hauled right from the banks of the Ohio River (yeah I helped w/that part too, didn't know what I'd signed on for!) and the installation took up both floors of the open gallery space. It was AMAZING!
hmm, tho I'm not sure how to post the link... does this work?

and I do projects w/ a company called Applied Imagination that makes garden rail road displays using all natural materials. I got to make a 20 ft long 5 foot high Grand Canyon covered in tree bark. How's that for a line on your resume?

not sure how to post images... I'll throw some on here when I figure it out.

Do you know Andy Goldworthy's work? my favorite, very inspiring.

Wow Real Cool!
I love it. Reminds of Beer and of the Hop poles in the UK.
I did something similar with three small trees to be removed on a fence line. Artsy clients owning a studio and so they let me pull three together and whip them tegether with Sisal.
Love to see the Sisal. Build Arbors on occassion and love twisting the rope.
Nice reminder that not everything needs to be chipped up.

Hope to get back to Kettleby. We raised a beauty 20'arch entrance to house with 2 large bowed cedars trees and planted with American bitter Sweet. Awesomely viney and the brightest fall fruit on the planet.

Thanks for sharing!

I was going to post some examples of Andy Goldsworthy's work but someone interested should look through all his work. Just plain awesome. Google him up you won't be disapointed.

Neat idea Ropeshield I may copy that as a fence design. Or used rigid styro, and mortor the cookies on both sides so it looks like a stackwall. I'd just pile my firewood along the road but people would steal it.

I have a growing pile of unsplittable (by mt little splitter) large blocks. I've been thinking of cutting them to form a roman arch on top of log colums as a frame for my company sign. Then some climbing vines and lights.

The arch

idea is really cool.
I had Mex food yesterday and they used sissal rope and wood together in the restaurant. Just love those two elements.
The addition of plants, rock and light is really stepping it up a notch.

I was going to mention sisal and wood as well. I was looking for a good picture from the Calgary zoo. They created an African look with those materials which is really nice.
