contest-legal helmets

If I've understood things correctly, the Petzl Ecrin Roc meets CE standards but not ANSI. (I think the Petzl Best meets ANSI). The ITCC rules say what you climb with must be legal where you work, suggesting US climbers can't wear the ROC

But at every contest I've been to (TX only) some guys (including me) have been wearing the Roc. Do Americans get to use this helmet at the ITCC? Obviously I need to check with TX organizers to get an answer about our contest, but I'm wondering what happens when the world comes together.

Sure, tom. I just looked at it again today. I meant to bring it home, take a picture, and post it here.

If I remember correctly, it said it was approved by the 1989 standards.

How have they changed since then?

Ok, I guess I heard wrong somewhere about the ROC.

So, to expand my question, what about another helmet that's CE compliant but does not say ANSI. I bought a black diamond hat from REI and am wondering if it will pass gear check. Don't remeber the model name, but it is more like a bike helmet, with a foam interior covered by a plastic shell.
