Colorado Tree ID #1

Two of these voluntarily sprouted about a decade ago at opposite corners of my house (a single and a multi-trunk) and are now close to 20'. I enjoy the bark, the spring flowers. Only one other has sprouted in my garden this year which I hope to transplant.

I had no luck identifying through the local extension office.

Looks like some type of cherry. Common Chokecherry (Prunus virginiana) has longer clusters of flowers around here (SE Wisconsin), but the photos I've seen of chokecherries growing in New Mexico look identical (to my poorly trained eye) to the photo you posted.

I have a lot of volunteer chokecherries in my yard. I must have pulled over a hundred seedlings this year. Some of mine may be Canada Red Select Chokecherry as they can get over 20' tall, sucker and have purple leaves. I grew up picking chokecherries on an old dirt road in NE Nebraska from which my mom would make jelly.
