I see you are in Canada, but the ANSI A300 supplemental support and accompanying Best Management Practices booklet might be helpful. I've just given away my copy and need to order a replacement. It is cheap and very formal.
 
For dynamic cable, noting tension. I've seen the shock absorber being squeezed out between the cable strands on long spans with large loads.

Also noting how much "collar" remains on old cables- the bight going around the tree. Is there room for growth yet? I've seen lots of old dynamic cable girdling stems.
