CMI small block

I was a little disappointed when I got home today. I was checking out my small CMI block because I wanted to replace the sling I’ve been using and when I went to twist the knob off the screw part of it stayed inside the block. I was surprised to see that they used some type of glue to attach the knob to the screw that holds the block together. I loved this block until now. I can’t open it anymore. Anyone else have this problem with the CMI Blocks? And what do you all recommend for a replacement?

I'm not clear...what came apart? Do you think that the block is trashed? i kinda doubt that. The lock tite might have come loose. If so, you can clean it off and use some more to lock the knob back on.

Is a pic possible?

Ya the block is still usable. But I can’t twist the threaded screw out of it, because the knob is in my hand after I twist it off and the screw (pin that holds the block together) is still in there. I was going to put a new adjustable sling on it when I found this out. If this doesn’t make sense I post a picture tomorrow
Thanks

That happened to my ss cmi block once as well. Use a pair of vice grips on the non thead part of the pin to unscrew it. Once you have it unscrewed replace the knob using some perment (red) lock tight. You should have no more problems.

Thanks bro, i'll give that a try tomorrow. They should have just welded the the nob and pin together.
Hey we have to go climbing again soon

Thanks for the info PCtree. Just to be safe I’m going to send the block out to CMI to inspect it next week. I’ll let you know how it goes.
Thanks
