Climbing Helmets

[ QUOTE ]

Using gear that isn't labled can put employees/employers in a bad situation if there is ever any sort of litigation.

The Spiders are CE labeled. No ANSI sticker. I promised myself that I wouldn't sue if the helmet didn't work.

I wish more people thought like that!!!!!!

i went from a kong spider to a grivel salamander helmet, liked them both very much, i always told people they are both good helmets for climbers who don't like helmets, because both are very light and have low-profile fits, unlike petzl which feel like they sit up very high on your head.........my next helmet i'm going to get is going to be the mammut skywalker 2,,,,,,,,,,see the link

There is a reason that the rock climbing helmets are lighter.
The standards taht they have to meet are much different than ANSI or CE work helmets. It would make sense to understand that standards before a decision is made.

A half ton pickup would not work very well as a chip truck would it?

only maybe 5 grams under a petzl, i'm pretty sure the spider helmet is approved, competitors in itcc have worn that helmet, do you think the grivel salamander would be approved to compete in(my favorite helmet ever)

KS...a half ton pickup 'described' as a work truck...but how much work [protection in my metaphor] are you expecting.

Something that is so ironic is on one hand there is a shoving match to jump all over sub-standard pruning work but then it's convenient to select sub-standard gear when it suits us.

Consistency is important. Liability cases have been won and lost because many small digressions from standards can be proven.

what is the difference between CE and ANSI standards? Also, why can't CE approved be used in our operations without having an ANSI stamp?

I like it that way. It highlights my chiseled abs and makes my dong look bigger. You nay sayers are just mad because you don't look as good as I do in my "business attire."
