How ofen do you wash your climbing lines and rigging lines? Once a year twice a year?
I read here on the buzz that there could be serious internal damage to your climbing lines if not washed, do to dirt grinding away at the internal fibers.
I also have some supperbrade rigging lines do they need to be washed aswell? I use them with and without pulleys?
Thanks goodaking

I'm not sure it's a really huge issue, but I like to wash mine every few months just the same. Clean ropes just look nicer.

I've been in the biz 40+ years and have never washed a rope.
I do make sure they don't get stepped on, tho.
If we're workin in the rain and there is mud involved, plywood is laid down to prevent mud from entering the fibers. I am very particular about my ropes.

i feel that my ropes run smoother and faster with less heat build up when they are clean. so i wash mine about once a month; prussic, saddle, webbing too, and along the same time i clean and lube my carabiners. a rain day is a good time for equipment maintenance.
