Friend of mine from another rescue squad told me about this call that he had.
Crew was dispatched for an arborist 40ft up in a tree that was hit by a lead he had cut leaving him unresponsive and hanging. Crew arrived on scene to find patient still hanging. Crews were unsure as to how to get the victim down due to location. Fire department was unable to place a ladder truck in the back yard and they had no way of climbing to the patient. Ground worker with no real climbing experiance and who did not speak english spiked to the patient attached a lowering line to him and rescue crew on ground belayed patient to the ground.
Crew that was doing tree work that day was not licensed and had no proper insurance for workers.
Not to say it would have happend but was told by medic crew that was on the call, the only answer to the problem they had was to call me not knowing if I was on duty or not and have me come out to do the rescue.
