I didn't take any pics of conflicting limbs, Glens is reconstructing the event based on what he sees in the pics.( I can't spell hypotheis-izing ?? or whatever )

The more I look at that stump the more it reminds me of a snap cut only on a bigger scale with the top of the tree providing the leverage needed to push or slide the stem off the stump the way it did.

That jack is sweet. I'll be ordering one right after my GRCS and before my remote-control rig just like Mike Poor's... haha! don't hold your breath just yet.
 
Well, I still reckon it's funny and the insurance company of the "victim" should persue the responsible party for reimburstment of damages. This is no act of god or natural disaster but a man made one.

He was out of his league and knew bugger all about felling ... and that sloping back cut proves it.
 
I agree Ekka about that sloping backcut. I still have people, who think they know about felling trees try to tell me that that is the correct backcut to use.
