Choosing which size of Branch Saver

Wasn't sure where to post this feel free to move it. I am going to give Branch Saver a try of some small trees <8" at trunk. My first thought is the 3/8 micro as I don't think the whole tree weight is even 500lbs. But for a more informed decision I figured I would ask the pros. Thanks.

At 3/8" you're still good for 5600lbs w/stable braid. That's virtually the weight of a 65' oak, if that's what you were thinking of, for removal as a whole stem, or controlled lifting and placement in drop zone, Frank.

Frank, I have a spool and a half of the 3/4 and it really looks silly in even medium sized trees. Wish my supplier has sent me the correct size when I ordered the second spool or I would offer you a section to mess with. That being said they did send the right size chafe sleave... That doesn't fit the 3/4 cable if you want some of it.
Let me know, we could get together over a crane job maybe!

Dave, I have a few trees that have 2 dominants and she wants the one over the house cut off to also allow sun to possibly grow some grass in the yard. I warned her against removing all the weight from one side but she insists. If they do tip over later they will fall into open ground but they appear to have spreading roots of atleast 8 or 9 ft. They look like weeds to me but I will try to snap a pic before I start or find a pic of them. While highly unlikely, they look like weeping cedars kind of. Anyway I agreed to remove it leaving about 3ft of stump so that the remaining stem can be tethered to it. I will measure the angle of each remaining stem and log it so that we can check them in 6 monthes to a year. If they change dramatically I told her they will need to be reevaluated and possibly taken down if they are unstable. I also made her sign a release form that stated something to the affect of; While (me) does not believe that the trimming (she) wants done is in the best interest of the tree and that future failure may occur due to this trimming, (she) does/will not hold (me) responsible for........you get picture. The rest of the trees are simple cut and dumps of dead wood from established pines. Sorry that was so long winded Dave.

Thanks Mert. 3/4" would be bigger than most of the limbs, lol. BJ said to thank you again and he loves being able to see his house now. I saw the idiot tenant that tried to walk through our site while you were dropping that trunck also. I gave him somd more shit about getting his head out of his ass.

I'll have to take a pic, I can't find what they look like on Google. The fact that every one of them looks identical with multiple stems all coming from one basic root ball is throwing me off. They look like 20 foot shrub versions of eastern red pine maybe. No cone or fruit around though so not sure yet.

Frank, the other thing you can use is arbor tie (can be picked up in west chester :( or my garage). It is a small green webbing that is used for staking newly planted trees. I have used it on small fruit trees before as well. It doesn't have the life span of branch saver but its probably good for a couple years.

Thanks Mert. I just ordered a reel of the 3/8 micro and used Nick's "MYBAD" to knock @12% off it. Thanks Nick, lol. Way more than I need so if you need some micro saver it will be in my truck next week. I looked at the ArborTie but the saver just looked cleaner and easier to me.

So I went and looked at those trees again because not knowing what they were was driving me nuts. They are Arborvitaes, just 35-40ft tall and have never been kept. I thought maybe they were when I first saw them but I have never seen one that didn't look typical. I really need to get a handbook and study up.
