chipper

Hey Folks,

Coming this January, I'm looking to purchase a chipper and I thought I would post my interests. I need something in the 9" capacity range, auto feed and diesel. I am familiar with the Vermeer 935 model and I am impressed with it's performance. I am interested in spending $5-7,000. Is there anything like this out there? Thanks.

Some of the best 9" chippers on the market. Blow away anything made by Vermeer.
I have owned the Bandit 90XP, with the Deutz engine. The damm thing would clog up even with my optional 'crotch cruncher' & auto feed.
The T-Rex is a great machine.
Also check out Bailey's logging supply. They sell a 9" chipper made by the same guy who makes the T-Rex.

Vermeer & Bandit both make smaller chippers but the engineering behind them is not so good. It is almost like they produce them just to be able to say they have a 9" model in their line up of machines.

You price point of under $10,000 is unrealistic for a new machine. Just the cost of steel alone these days has brought the price up substantially.

If that is all you have to spend then the best option is to find a used model.

Hey, thanks for the reply. I've got some questions about your chipper. What condition is it in? What year is it, and how many hours does it have on it? Is it a perkins diesel? Where are you located? Looking forward to hearing from you.

Thanks,
Iowa

The 935 is a good chipper, I logged many hours with one (rental) that had the perkins. Autofeed is nice, but not neccessary. A 12" chipper (older Bandit 200 or 250) is a good idea also, more of them, similar price range can be had, but no auto feed.

I had one of the 935 machines until recently. I sold it for 1500.

Like lumberjack said, its a good machine. A little small at times but it did what I needed it to do. I know a guy that has the same machine xcept w/ the 36hp gas motor. Its just not the same. I could get almost 2 days out of the fuel in my diesel compared to 1 w/ the gas.

Im fixing to buy me another real soon.

diesel motor is the way to go,
i had a morbark 12" chipper gas 58 hp motor i bought for 5 grand and ran it four yrs before i did a valve job on it ,
the 250 xp is a good machine also,
9" is small and under capacity, buy a decent used morbark or bandit and run the hell out of it, i wouldnt buy new, and i wouldnt buy under 12" capacity,
just my 1/2 cents worth
good luck
