Can you elaborate about the hole in the plywood, please?

Cut a hole about 3’ down a sheet of ply. Winch line through the hole the. Choke the stacked brush stacked on the back edge of the ply.

Far from perfect and it’s more so working with what you got. Only works when there is enough ‘lift’ on the line.

If you take the jacket off a bull rope it’s actually a pretty solid chafe sleeve

A couple feet of 1/4" G100 chain and a choker hook works great. It's as long as the fairlead "spout" on the winch so it doesn't wrap the drum when reeled in all the way
On bigger logs it still rides at the bottom to protect the winch line.
Had to file the opening on the hook a fuzz so 1/2" rope would easily fit into it for an extension or pull line.
