Chipper chute hinge

I've just purchased a Bandit 65XP and waiting for it to be delivered mid January. My garage is 6' 10' and I would like to get it in there. I am thinking about putting a hinge on the chute. Has this ever been an issue with anybody? Bandit are very discouraging but they can't seem to tell me why.
Another option I am contemplating is cutting off about 10'' off the chute. Bandit were even less enthusiastic about this. Has anyone done this?

Is there a clean-out hinge at the base of the chute that can be used instead.

I know that a removal company with a large chipper and large truck had difficulties over time with chip throwing distance into the truck because so many chips had worn some sort of lip in the chute causing less effiecient flow.

I think that it might be asking for trouble. If you price a new chute, freight, install and disposal time, you can figure out what it'll cost to find out for sure.

Is there any remodel on the garage that can accomadate the chute?

Dorian,

There's a fella who moved to Austin last summer who might be able to give you some ideas about hinges or cutting a gusset out of the chute. He's done some creative fabricating and knows the needs of a tree care company.

:)

Good to hear from you Tom. I've been meaning to talk to you since you got back from the expo. I'll give you call. A little out of it right now as i woke up at four am to do the island of traffic opposite city hall before rush hour.

Mine old one fit inside my garage, standard height door.

Jack the jack down and put it on a roller. Light enough to push around...
