Chest Ascender

My setup is based around the Unicender and an adjustable bridge. By snugging down the bridge the Uni is in the perfect place to become a chest ascender. I have a neck tether made from small diameter shock cord that clips to the top.

Sorry. No pics I'm on my phone

If you do not yet have a chest ascender, think about getting a knee ascender/foot ascender combination instead. I used to use a Petzl Croll all the time and it is good but the knee/foot combo is way better.

Do you go a neck or chest tether in that setup. I just made a neck tether but I'm not sure if I like it. Haven't tried a chest harness because I like to keep my gear I take into the tree low.

I currently run a Haas with a BDB or RR with a CT ankle ascender. I have noticed a few people with chest boxes for long ascents and was wondering about a croll or some of the other ascenders used to keep a more upright position.

Been climbing with suspenders for a while. Takes a lot of pressure of the hips and keeps your harness up over your arse when a saw is hanging off of it. I tied the eye of a small stainless steel snap onto the tail of the chest buckle and use that to advance my device. It's always there and it's out of the way when I don't need it. You can get these Kuny's suspenders at just about any hardware store.

View attachment 41643 I use the Petzl Torse shoulder straps with a snap hook. They are quickly adjustable in length, which is important in how I use them.
Dave, is that a photo of your current kit? My guess is the pulley keeps the HH aligned properly to tend from the bridge ring. Is that the case? The HH tending seemed to be too finicky on alignment for me to adopt it, but I dig the concept.

Almost and I do use the Akimbo when on a thinner rope. I am now using the MCRS and just keep my bridge at one length. The Torse, HH2 and Fix pulley, when used with knee and foot ascenders, is just amazing. Compact and smooth. The HH2 with pulley does tend perfectly with the shoulder straps clipped to the bridge ring.
