I got an XTC Fire 120' tight eye from my local rigging supply a several months back, in the past few weeks I noticed a flat spot about 8 inches long right above the bury/taper of the splice. Decided I was no longer using the rope, so cut it open, no core in that section!! Brought it in to the local rigging shop and wesspur had a new rope at no cost back to me within a few days... Im a diehard treestuff.com supporter, but really appreciated wesspurs quick turnaround and backing up their products. Alohas!!

Shouldn't be a flat spot, but you do know the 'core' gets removed from the first few feet of a 16 strand splice, right?

Jeff, I was aware of that, but the flat spot had me worried... It looked to me that where they tapered the core didn't match up to the taper of the cover bury. If that makes any sense, I have zero splicing skills. Anyway, just pleased to see they back up their product. Jon, I'm core, see you in Hawaii this winter??

Huh? you got a rope from one store with a junky splice, and another store gave you a free one to replace it with?

Am I missing something here?

yeah, didn't explain very well... Bend Rigging Supply distributes wesspur, so the rope came from them originally. Basically Bend Rigging is my middle man here in town. The rope was from wesspur, junk splice, they took it back and replaced for free.

Sweeeet, i'll do that for sure!! Plans are being made to hopefully be in Hawaii a couple months over winter with all my climb gear and just contracting
