Cheap prescription safety glasses

As my eyesight has gone down hill significantly over the last few years, I want to get some prescription safety glasses. My last pair were prescription safety sunglasses that cost me about $350 and that was about 4 or 5 years ago. Does anyone have any online sources for some cheaper safety glasses than that? I don't even care if they are sunglasses or not, just something that would be ANSI/OSHA approved.

I'm leery of prescription safeties simply because the poly-carb variety required by our state osha (VOSHA) end up scratched beyond acceptability way too quickly.

Too expensive for my tastes.

Meantime only other option is to fly blind or use fugly ansi polycarb goggles.

Anyone got other solutions?

Tom, where do you get yours for less than $10? From rx-safety? I found some there there are not all bad for about $50 to $60.

These are cheater bi-focal safety glasses. Not prescription.

Any safety supply house will have them. I've seen them occasionally at Home Depot etc. or hardware stores. Graingers too but I find their prices too high for the convenience.

Thanks, I didnt realize you could find those commonly. Maybe I will have to run over to HD tonight.

My lenses stood up well as far as scratching is concerned. They were hardened I believe along with the scratch resistant coating. The frame broke at the bridge when the tail of the rope snapped them when I pulled it out of the tree.

Because of some early macular degeneration in my eyes I had to get wrap around RX sunglasses that let very little sunlight in. The only brand I could find that can make a curved wrap around lens in the stronger RX's is Oakley. They were $350 but their pretty nice. I strongly recommend that people who spend alot of days outdoors, especially blue eyed people wear sunglasses. The sun over many years can damage your eyes.

brushbandit, I currently have some Oakley's RX as well. They are very high quality and I love them, but now my prescription has changed and I don't have the money for new ones.... bummer. Are yours safety or just regular? If they are safety, I wasn't aware that Oakley made safety glasses.

I ordered them through Lenscrafters, the company that owns Lenscrafters bought Oakley last year. I also saw an online company that you can order them from for less $ but I was leary. Also I like Lenscrafters 30 day guarantee, you can exchange as many times as you like in the first 30 days if you don't like the glasses. That even applies to the special order Oakleys. Plus Oakley has alot of tints to choose from and at lenscrafters you can check out samples of the tints.
