Change is coming to TreeBuzz---heads up

Mark and I just talked for a while. He's driving back to NJ from the indoor AR class. He said it was a great success. More about that when he gets home.

There are some long needed changes coming to the TB forum. Our webhosts have built a new whiz-bang server which should be on line within a couple of days. This is in the background and no one should even notice the change. By getting the server in place at the beginning we'll be ready for the software upgrades.

A complete backup of TreeBuzz from the first tests on 5/30/01 and the very first post on 6/01/01 up to today will be made in case something goes amiss during this process.

The next step is to bring the new forum software on line. We're going to use Xenforo which allows us to tie into other media formats.

When all of the background pieces are completed we're going to let the wizards do their magic to bring new life to TreeBuzz. This seems like the next generation being put in place.

When the time to upgrade comes TreeBuzz will shut down completely for at least a day, maybe a little longer. The short shutdown seems more stable than leaving this format running and trying to shoe horn the new format in behind.

We'll have some lead time for when the shut down is going to happen. We'll put up notices too.

Thanks to all of the contributors to TreeBuzz over the years as well as the support of our sponsors over there on the right for making this happen.

I'm going to have withdrawal symptoms when it's down

Facebook ?
I checked "Books in Print" and could not find it ?
Does Barnes & Noble carry it ?
Is it paperback or hardcover ?

Will there be a mobile app for it?

From what I understand the connection will integrate from mobile devices right back here to the forum. There won't be two separate forums going on though.

But I'm scared of change! That is why I still climb DRT!

Yeah, you don't want to waste your life, baby.
You don't wanna waste your life, now darlin.
You don't wanna waste your life, baby.
You don't wanna waste your life, now darlin.
Oh, you don't wanna waste your life, now babe.
I said you don't wanna waste your life, now darlin.
Oh, you don't wanna waste your life, now baby.
Oh, you don't wanna, you don't wanna waste your life, now darlin.
Change, change, change.
Change.
Change.
Change.

Heard this a couple weeks ago talking to mark. He was saying treebuzz is so outdated they can't just jump to the newest format. Can't wait to see what it looks like.

I really like the Tapatalk forum app. I find myself less and less behind a laptop and desktops have left our house and office a very long time ago.
It's not that I don't like visiting The Buzz, it's the way it's accessible on a 5 inch telephone.
Most of us flea to Facebook or Tapatalk facilitating forums for a refreshing chat just because they are easy accessible and because you also can find most of our friend there too.

For me Treebuzz.com is fine as it is. But I would visit it way more frequently if it would get a Tapatalk tweak.

I agree with the others that I hope it will work better on a phone. I would definitely be here more often.

For one day! I laughed out loud, haha.

I'm looking forward to it.

It is due for sure.

Hopefully it brings back a large crowd of users and becomes diverse again.

I was just considering trying to find another forum that might have more people similar to my work type.

But I wrote Mark and he did tell me this was coming, so I'm holding on and crossing my fingers.

The link Tom put in of Xenforo sounds interesting. This should be good.

I'll do my part to put up interesting posts and videos and hope it pulls in new people. Cause I think most of the ones left on here don't like me

I only use one forum and I hope treebuzz can stay it.

It seems the posting crowd has become small and tends to be small slower paced companies or recreational climbers. There is NOTHING wrong with these people by the way, but they don't have the same interests that I have.

oh and I've NEVER had a problem viewing tree buzz on my phone. Even my old phone 3 years ago.

use a Samsung galaxy s3 for 1.5 years now and it views it just like a computer and I can post stuff or anything I want.

so , I don't know of any problems using a cell phone to use this site

Im on several forums, I kinda prefer this outdated software. I like the simplicity. Some forums have too much going on, kind of like a 10 page restaurant menu.
