After reading "given the choice?" this morning I had to open a new one just for my favorite tool.First Q: Anyone made the switch from Husky 335 to 338? like the new model? haven't found one in my local yet. Just for the record I was a lifelong Stihl fan too but recently made the switch to Husky cuz' of price and quality issues. They used to say "you get what you pay for" but with Stihl, I don't think so anymore.

I mod most all of my saws, but the 338 design did not allow for correct porting of the intake...so the pwr gains were anemic, compared to my old Walkerized 335, which would stomp all over a stock 020....But it runs well. Both it and my new and soon to be modded 335 Cali (45 cc) have a primer bulb, so cold starting is a snap. Warm start ok too. I'm hoping the Cali ends up as fast as a stock 026, it should, as the large jug and current tiny ports should allow for a lot of opening. You have to buy them from Baileys-online.com. Email me for info on who to have mod it.

I don't like to price or design of the 200T, but they do easily out cut the stock 335's...and gain even more with a simple spark arrester and screw removal. But I have a lot more $ in the modded 338...so I'm not happy.

You'll need to tape the flimsy spark plug cover to keep from losing it...and clean the brake mechanism often, which may make it work correctly for a while longer....I've gotten my dealer to give me new ones, as there's no reason for a brake to go bad.

Pic is of a 120 yr old Jap maple that I helped an ex- employee move..he hope to sell it for 20-30,000$
