Yesterday I worked with Fred Berkelhammer's crew. The afternoon job was a takedown. We were dragging the brush through a rough area and I noticed a chainsaw laying in the weeds. I picked it up to move it and look what I found.
The picture isn't real clear. If you can enlarge the pic you'll find an electric chainsaw bolted to a section of 2" PVC tubing. There's a toggle switch at the bottom. In the background of the pics you can see the work that the homeowner did with this fine tool.
I saw some guys on a neighboring roof once who were almost, but not quite, that clever. They had slapped an electric saw on a pole but didn't put in a switch. They would lock down the throttle while the saw was within reach (not sure how) and off she'd go. Pretty funny from the next house over, but I wouldn't have wanted to be on the roof with them.
one of my friends and I were driving by a house about 4 years ago, when we happened upon a homeowner in a front yard with a poulan chain saw DUCT TAPED on to a 2x4 or something similar, they were standing on a ladder using it. I didnt feel comfortable stopping them then, nowa days i would
I agree with Alves on this one. I have seen people do this and hope nothing happens. My neighbors where about to do this to a tree till i stopped by to say hi and also to tell them that I am syre that the local rental placeses have power pole saws, and if they do not I can take care of the problem. In all I did the work free of charge, and the next day brought home the power pole saw for the to see.
