Catalina Island : Final cut

Location
SO-CAL
I'am so glad that this tree is down!! I always make it a practice to check the whole job one final time before starting my final cuts..
The tree came down ok , once the tree was on the ground we discover some decay in the middle of this tree.

Some one said : IT'S ALL ABOUT THE CHALLENGE , PASSION AND DEDICATION TO THIS PROFESSION THAT WE CALL TREE WORK...

Out in sunny SO-CAL ..

Re: Catalina Island : Final cut

Looks to me like it was a Blue Gum, that sort of decay level is very common with that species. They have been widley planted in urban areas over here and have increadible growth rates.
I was also wondering how to get my hands on some of those cut proof jeans?

Re: Catalina Island : Final cut

We do work for Toyan Bay and Campus by the Sea they are private camps. We are going back next month to do a 2 mile fire break around the camp. The fire dept is really strict out there on these camp sites. It's all small brush cleaning under the oak trees..

Re: Catalina Island : Final cut

THanks for sharing your interesting job with us.
It is very "refreshing" when someone shares their
passion with the rest of us(as many buzzers do)
keep up the good work.

Re: Catalina Island : Final cut

My cut proof jeans !! It gets so hot out here with those chaps i hate them. I haven't seen any good chaps that look comfortable to wear up in the tree. I know i should be wearing some chaps. I saw the one in the sherrill book range pants they look ok , what is your choice for in the trees?

Re: Catalina Island : Final cut

The chainsaw pants I am using at the moment are sold by the stihl dealers here, they have the stihl logo but I am not sure if they actually make them. They have 180 protection and are lined with a silky material so they dont get to sticky on the really hot days (often over 36 celcius). I have had to wear cut proofs since day one so I guess I had no choice but to get used to them. I cannot stand wearing chaps either.
