Carabiner, for Friction hitch

What is the best carabiner (most proper in terms of weight distribution) for the VT climbing hitch system. I just started using it and think there must be a better carabiner. Also what carabiners are best used with the anchor bridge system??? Rich???

Using an HMS style for a friction hitch is the best choice. This spreads the load of the multiple attachments across a large span. Keeping the load back away from the gate is always the goal.

I usually have either the green-buttoned William AmD or the ISC smaller pear-biners (the mighty mouse, for example)

They fit my slack tender well, so that might just be why I like them so much.

The reason i ask is i bought a new pulley at tci and it shows it with an oval carabiner, the pulley i got was the new pretzl with fixed side plates, to keep the eyes of my friction hitch a little farther apart. Just thought i should ask about what others use in case it isn't proper with the weight distribution

With the Petzl Fixe you really need something like a petzl amd/william, or similar. A sloping top bar to the krab won't align that pulley properly.

I prefer a swing cheek pulley in this configuration - has a little play to help twist in line with the rope. And it keeps the hitch legs close together, to grip the rope (can make all the difference with a VT).
