"Canopy Reduction" Guidelines

\"Canopy Reduction\" Guidelines

I've used my endless years of arboricultural expertise (that would be 5 years - read 'em 5) to come up with "canopy reduction guidelines" that I think will work in just about any scenario. I did this by collecting and correlating relevant input from many jobsites. And the beauty of my methodology is that it is SPECIES INDEPENDENT.
Does this sound too easy...just watch.

Re: \"Canopy Reduction\" Guidelines

Of course we don't actually do the dastardly deeds the geezers would like.
Condo work is the funniest or most head-bangingest experience of all. Especially condos for the Freedom-55 set.
If you are ever feeling unloved and ignored put on a helmet and carry a chainsaw around a condo for wealthy older people. They got all kinds of stuff they want you to do and they insist they are 'like that' with the board president...and it's OK to top that tree or cut this one down even if its not on the work order..
I know I'm not the only one who has been here...

Re: \"Canopy Reduction\" Guidelines

That is hilarious, and sadly true.

Older people? The one thing that happens more times than i want to is talking to a client and a fart rolls out. most of the time they act like it never happened. This is the one time I wish I had a helmet cam on. one time it was a very up right older lady. when she did it she began to laugh, I had to look away. sometimes it has had a real creamy sound. And when my son is with me, well you dont have to do much to make him laugh.

Hilarious!

"Tree too tall aphobia", its a real thing.

I've been skipping over this post the past couple days cause I thought it would be a technical report and discussion, Ha!

Re: \"Canopy Reduction\" Guidelines

Nothing quite like screaming back and forth with the hard of hearing in their back yard about how I'm not gonna cut their tree in half. Upside is that the whole neighborhood gets an education on tree topping. Everyone except your customer who can't hear squat. This happened to me (most recently) Monday.

Re: \"Canopy Reduction\" Guidelines

Then they tell you all about how they planted it 150 years ago and if they knew it was gonna get that tall they never woulda done it......man if I had a nickel. Most times the tree is the kinda thing I'd kill to have in my yard.

Re: \"Canopy Reduction\" Guidelines

Here in NJ I think that could be reduced to 0' @ 75 y.o. I guess they do understand that topping is no good...

We do a condo site on the palisades overlooking the Hudson River and Manhattan. They hear the saws and out they come to guide you in your pruning and complain about losing the view they paid for.
