canola chain oil

[ QUOTE ]
I went shopping and looked for cheap cold pressed stuff and none of the labeling mentioned hot, cold, or expeller pressed. Dose it matter?

The yellow oil is cold pressed and the one you should use. Avoid the darker (cooked seeds) golden brown stuff.
In Europa the only one in grocery stores is the cold pressed yellow one.
The plastic containers are being recycled and don't even get close to a landfill around here.

We've been running Canola oil only for the past few weeks. I can honestly say I love it. Doesn't smell bad, works great on the bars and I honestly feel better about it's impact on the environment. I've been using bio lube for a few years myself, finally got my employer to switch. Love it.

Also, I bought an 8 gallon container of it for 25$. Can't beat the price.

I have some friends that own a biodiesel refinery. I use their veggie fryer grease that has been slightly refined for my saws. It works great. I havent experimented with the stuff at super cold temps yet though. I also have the bio stuff that sherrill sells which doesnt gel up in cold temps ever.

Here, I use "vegetable" which means soybean, during the warmer months, and when the temperatures threaten to stay below freezing I switch to corn oil. Always smells good!

Well, this will be my first full winter to find out for sure about all this. I haven't had any problems with gumming. The arborist I work with has used vege oils, several different kinds, for many years in all his saws, big and small.
