what he said was it wasn't safe, that's the part I say is bull. It may not be the best tool for the job but it will work.

When I was starting out in trees I was pretty ignorant of the differences between rock climbing and tree climbing ropes. I was unsafe because I was binding my hitch, and also just exhausting myself. Treebuzz is a searcheable database for information on tree issues. Although it is great to discuss different ideas, we don't want to be responsible for some poor newb getting stuck in a tree or suffering heat exhaustion... my two cents - carry on!
