There is a thread that covers/discusses using a class 1 DB splice on core dependent cords such as Armor Prus, I believe the thread is called Armor prus 8mm.. worth a read.
I have spliced quite a lot of Armor prus 8mm as I use it for friction cord and I splice it with a Class 1 DB splice as a class 2 is too stiff and the bury too long which makes it not the greatest for a friction cord.
I have got my splices break tested, one cord broke at 1.7t and another at 2.2t (these were both class one DB splices on Armorprus), the splice didn't pull out or slip, the cord broke at the bottom of the eye were the most bend was. Also when using as a friction hitch, this doubles as both ends are terminated at same point.
Even still, I read some where (treetools blog I think) that the braking strength of the knot is around 11kn(1.1t roughly) so my splices as still stronger than knots, so I am happy to use them.
Also as BenR said, there is another user on Arbtalk that got his Class 1 DB splices tested and the broke around 2.8t.
I think you should always get your splices break/destruction tested before you climb on them, especially in this scenario
In regards to splicing bee line and HRC, I have only seen bee line been spliced with locking brummel.
I defiantly think that if you want to use a class 1 DB splice on a class to rope you should get in brake tested.
Cheers
