Can I use a handled ascender as a chest unit?

Might be hard to set it up in a chest configuration. I would think the length would make it sort of awkward. The rope might not run that smoothly through it. Never actually tried it. From a safety standpoint it would be fine. Might be a pain in the ease of operation dept.

Mb you can make it work? croll makes it easier to attach the shoulder harness.
I would look for a dedicated sternal ascender so you havent got all the extra metal pinching, punching and gouging you.

What harness? I ride the Skylotec with the Buckingham Yharness with srt add on.
Works well, keeps me pretty up right for rope runnin and holding me squared up to a cut.

If you haven't used a proper sternal ascender you don't no what you are missing> It makes a world of difference.
Haas, sternal, foot and handle makes for a pretty complete, effecient and comfortable system. Personallyg I would not give up my sternal attachment. Mb cause I got a turkey barrel and need my weight more vertical.

Well now I have just enough info and gear to be dangerous so... Off to the lab. You experiment with this stuff high and fast right?.....right?
