Can I convert my GMT035 TTC into a standard dogbone style?

I run a small Jekko tracked K boom and have just recently gotten our 035 TTC with the hydraulic locking link out of storage with the hopes of being really useful on this new small machine but it has several caveats some of which were learned recently and some of which were learned before putting it in storage to begin with…


I’d basically like to give up on the “TTC” locking mechanism and essentially convert it into the standard free swinging 035 with the dogbone styles of basic swivel.
Can I just buy the swivel and take all the extra hydraulic parts off?

What are the caveats?

If it’s not locked, won’t it free swing?

Post a picture of the top of the rotator plus the ttc part, if you could find a link, all you’d need to do is cap the ttc hose that locks up the joints, afaik.

It’s delicate and repairs to the TTC system are costly.

The whole system even when operating properly and in adjustment behaves odd and unpredictable when cold and we do a lot of utility storm response where literally minutes count and sometimes I need to make a pick immediately. I can predict how the grapple, powered by a cylinder is gonna behave when cold, the TTC system is more sensitive to pressure changes because of fluid temp and sometimes I literally don’t have 3.5 minutes to rotate the head to warm the fluid as instructed in the GMT manual.


And mainly: This is a small machine, every bit of weight is noticeable. Not that I’m loading it to 100% every time but it’s not our 40t Manitex, every pound saved helps.

And because I’m lazy: My experience is with free swinging heads and I’m good at what I do. I’d rather be a competent operator than a beginner again…
