Hey guys, just a little story about what happened today. My dad (boss) was coming up with our cat skid steer to put our grapple on. It was in the back of our dump truck, but you could drive the skid right up to it and attach it while it was sitting in the bed of the truck. Anyway i needed to scoot it back a foot or so, so the skid steers quick attach could connect with the grapple. I needed help so my dad raised the bucket up to get out and help, as he did he got a phone call. So he's getting out on the phone and as he get's out he jumps to get in the bed of the dump truck and slams his head into the raised skid steers quick attach, smashing his head and cutting it pretty good. To make matters worse he landed with one leg up on the bed of the dump truck (about 4ft off the ground with the tailgate down) and the other foot on the ground, so he was also stuck doing the splits with his foot on the ground stuck in between the trailer/dump truck and one foot stuck up on the bed of the dump. Anyway I helped him get unstuck and laid him down on the ground, gave him my tee shirt to stop the blood flowing from his head, and took him home. Basically this probably would have been avoided if A) He wasn't distracted by his phone or B) He was wearing his protos helmet inside the skid steer. C) If he lowered the skid boom instead of raising it. Could have been worse could have been better just glad it wasn't anything serious. Stay safe guys.
