i just want to make a separate thread discussing rope people have run in the BDB.
personally i'm in the market for a reel of rope and before i drop the coin want to hear everyones .02 ₵
it would be nice if we could have some format like

your weight
bdb model & any mods
rope make
rope diameter
rope color
performance with bdb
how easily rope goes in and out of bdb

look forward to hearing what you guys have to say

me
185 no gear
built in feb-march '15
km3 1/2" black color (one of the reasons im looking for something else)
good performance but as i said in the other thread bdb doesn't exactly goble this line
not easy on and off so far

176lb no gear
11mm kern master blue tongue
Goes in easy , tends great ,
& runs well no slipping ,
I have some tachyon which didn't tend aswell but was a older rope so might try a new tachyon rope at some point .

190-210lb
The first run with the big biner hole in the spine
Tachyon, imori, kmIII 13mm
All with the stock bollard. Tachyon perfect, imori imperfect but workable, km perfectest. After hogging out the base of the spine with a file, could probably do a bit more.

200lbs
Early build
5/8 bollard

cougar blue
tends slack perfectly
no slipping
Nuanced descent

Teufleberger Platinum
tends slack perfectly
no slipping
descent a little bit jerky

11 mm km3 white
superior tending
no slipping
Easy to open up too fast on descent

Kernmaster safari

Slips too much and flattens out

Tachyon orange

Some resistance on ascent
no slipping
nice controlled descent but can't open it up for high speeds.

'Bout 2 bucks

Couple total mutt Bones:
- Version 2 Spines with Self-Machined lower friction areas.
- Nano Swivel mods.
- Abandoned the snub mod and went back to OEM Lower Arms.
- 5/8" or 3/4" Bollards (see below).
- Upper Arm soft tending links.

New England Ropes, Tachyon, Orange/Blue, 11.5mm, 5/8" bollard.

New England Ropes, KMIII Green/Blue, 7/16", 3/4" bollard.

Prefer the Tachyon performance for SRT, and KMIII for DSRT since my weight is distributed between 2 lines. Both ropes load/unload quite easily. Pondering a spool of Tachyon (Orange/Blue) and abandoning the KMIII.

170 no gear
5/8" bollard
Cougar Puke - perfect
Tachyon (Lava blue/ orange)- also excellent
Yale Poison Ivy 11.7- slippage with 5/8" bollard, doesn't bother me, flattens. Haven't tried 3/4" bollard...
11mm Kernmaster blue/ pink - limited experience (2 climbs, still alive and smiling....)
All my ropes are in good shape because I rotate ropes and systems often...
Haven't tried my Escalator, Yale Blue Tongue 24, or Samson Vortex. I love Vortex in concept, but it's just too fat, doesn't jive with most systems (BDB, RR, RW...) unless modified.
