Bucket Operating

Ome of the biggest things with bucket work (coming from mostly forestry unit experience) is to take a couple more minutes setting up. know your reach and pace off the distance. Sometimes its way easier to work a removal from two setups even though you may have been able to get it in one just because of drop zone for the detritus

Also pay attention to limbs that you dont want to break, especially with lower boom during pruning and on other trees

Bucket work can be great amd makes a lot of jobs a walk in the park but its not the be all end all

This post probably one of the most valuable posts. The collateral damage you can do with hydraulics is pretty extensive.

Have a person as a spotter with a signalling device (Sena, airhorn, giant Gong) if you're even going to be close/ within reach of the lines/ MAD/ another tree, house, like you would have a spotter for driving a trailer into a tight space.

So much cheaper and easier to not break things than to fix things.

Stirring up some great advice, thank you buzz.
I've been asking the helper to watch my outriggers as I learn the boundaries. I also like testing the reach with the lower controls before climbing in. So I know the truck is close enough and the bonus trust building. "Look how small and light the flying basket is! This big solid truck is not moving at all, go figure."

It shouldn't...going from memory the stability test on a bucket is twice the rated load in the bucket.

Be mindful of limb weight when using a the cut and grab method, apparently you can break your ribs on the edge of the bucket if the limb is too heavy, twice.....
