I have some that I made from Polydyne and Husky... all 5/8", 3/4" and a couple from 7/8". Amazing how such a short length of those ropes can absorb so much energy. And, they're terribly easy to splice. I also have a 3/4" and a 7/8" one that are about 30' long. I use those to guy a rigging point back to a higher point on another stem when I'm nervous about the primary TIP for the block. When the load drops, you can actually see them stretch a little before the secondary stem moves very much. I honestly believe that they have kept me from blowing out the main rigging point when I was forced to drop a bigger piece than I normally do.
If I make a canopy anchor out of the stuff, I always use chafe guard on them. Coatings help, but really... it's easier to cut a ragged chafe sleeve off and replace it and keep the sling like new. When the original one is buggered, I cut it off and wrap it with Cordura nylon and sew it on the wife's Husqvarna sewing machine, if new chafe sleeving won't fit over the termination/splice or whatever is on the ends.
