Brush Bandit-1290XP=Bad Engine

I have a Bandit 1290 XP that needs a new engine or rebuild. It has about 3000 hours on the machine and was chipping great until the engine went. Anybody interested or have any advice on the best course of action to take. My thoughts have been selling it to someone for parts of scraping the thing.

Jesse what do you mean the engine went? Did it blow a piston rod? Score the cylinder? I would think the cost of those machines it would be worth having the engine rebuilt. What type of engine is in the machine?

It is a Perkins diesel engine 120ish horsepower. Not exactly sure the extent of the damage, I am somewhat ignorant in this area. I know the oil pump went out and it threw a rod not sure about the cylinders. Was quoted 6k just in parts and I didn't pay more than 12k for the chipper.

It seems to me you could research engine options that Bandit put on that unit and get a good used or already rebuilt engine just to slap on for less than 6k. I researched the 51hp perkins on my 2070xl and found 7 or 8 sitting on pallets already rebuilt for between 1500 and 2500. good luck.

Turns out the damage was not as bad as originally thought. Should be up and running this week. Since I already bought a new chipper looks like I'm in the market for a second chip truck now.
