Broken toe

Alright Jabber, since we're sharing nasties, check this shot out. This is a splinter that was in my arm for about a week. It broke off when I tried to yank it out with tweezers on the job so I dug at it for two days with a needle. No luck. It just kept breaking. After a week it was so swollen and sore that I decided to just squeeze it to death and BLAM, out it came. What a relief.

You just take that shot? That was quick. No, I don't really heat with wood, I try to cut my gas bill down by burning in the fireplace. It doesn't heat the whole house, but it does help, and the wife likes it! /forum/images/graemlins/brows.gif

Come on Ptar, tell us how!

I ran the Western States 100 mile Endurance Run
a couple years ago. The course starts in Squaw Valley
and ends in Auburn. 18000 ft of climbing, 22000 ft/downhill,
95% on trails.
All that downhill running can really bang up your feet.

Chips, beer, running...........this thread was started out about my toe.......I wanna talk about me, not you, just me and my toe............ /forum/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Pierre,

It is doing a bit better, thanks for asking (unlike some other people). The problem now is my back. As a result of hobbling around for the last week, my back has been thrown out. I went to the back cracker today and she was able to give me some relief, the hot tub will have to do the rest.

Craig,
I feel like playing doctor today.
A couple guys I know who have back problems
swear by yoga. I think any yoga style will
help improve your flexibilty and core
strength. Core strength is important for a
healthy back.

Studly Stihl Man who likes to play strip poker with the east coast arbor gang,

I worked 2 days last week (on a crew) and that was it (office work the rest of the week). The toe is not doing too bad, it does however get fatigued quickly. I am gonna try going back to work tommorrow........the back is still mighty sore and swollen, so we will see. I sure am glad that my company can make some bling bling without me climbing. Thanks for asking.

Ptar,

Thanks for the link for the core strength exercises, I will be getting started right away..........it's just what the doctor ordered, literally!

I am not sure how quickly you are back to work and on your. This summer I severly broke my big toe, not doing tree work, but helping a friend remodle his basement. I was in a hard cast and crutches for a month, and a walking cast for another 3 weeks. Luckly my job didnt require climbing trees, it would have been hard with crutches!! I was working with oak wilt all summer and able to get by with a cast.

Two summers ago I was helping the same friend by doing some tree work, and steped in a ground hive of bees. I ended up getting stung about 30 times. Needless to say I have had some bad luck at my friends house, and havent volunteered to help him with any projects recently.

So anyways, I hope your toe and your back are both doing better.

Ryan
